Win against Inter at the San Siro

We all know this, more or less, at this point. Real Madrid got a hugely important win against Inter Milan, and now have the group in their own hands. A win againsh Shakhtar would be enough to qualify for the round of 16, and Real can still win the group.

Real started the game well, and scored early after a Hazard-penalty. Inter’s uphill struggle got even bigger when Vidal did what he does best, and got a red card against Real Madrid, to the delight of madridistas around the world. Inter was in a bad situation to begin with, playing with 10 men even before Vidal’s red, with Lukaku deep in Nachos pocket from the first minute of the game.

Stats of the game

Eden Hazard completed 6 dribbles during the game. As a comparison, Inter completed one total as a team.

Rodrygo has 6 goals on 9 (not even full) Champions League-games. This number might change, as UEFA still has the second goal listed as a Hakimi OG.

Hazard scored his first Champions League goal in over three years.

What now?

Real will face Alaves this Saturday, Spanish time, and are hoping this boost will also get them back winning in La Liga. Real face Shakhtar on the 1st of December, Sevilla on the 5th of December and Monchengladbach on the 9th of December.

All the fallout after the game

There is a lot of great content on this site about the game. You could perhaps start of with Euan McTear’s “Three answers and three questions from Real Madrid’s win over Inter”. You can read it here
