Real Madrid fail to get back to winning ways in La Liga
In a game filled with a penalty, an error by a keeper, Hazard injury, a late comeback-try, Isco hitting the crossbar in the dying minutes and hair pulling (Yes, even hair pulling), Real just could not find a way to win the game. Alaves got their first win in 20 years, and Real are further from top spot than before the weekend. That’s now three La Liga games without a win in a row.
Hazard injured
To make matters worse, Eden Hazard had to be subbed off during the first half. So far the extent of the injury is unknown. If Eden will miss games, it will be his 5th injury (+ Covid). Eden was apparently injured during the first half, when he was fouled in the box. No penalty was given, and Eden limped off soon after that. According to Zidane in the post game presser, it is only a knock though. So we will see.
Comments after the game:
Casemiro: “Lack of attitude? I don’t think so. At Real, we always have to give everything on the field. We believed to the end”
Zidane: “Today was our worst start this season. It bothers me that we could not change the dynamic during the match after the bad start. Today was not down to attitude”
Butragueno: “There is the VAR….we can’t say anything about it”
