UEFA have appointed Ovidiu Haţegan as the referee for Tuesday’s match between Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid in the Champions League Group Stage. This will be the second time the Romanian referee has been in charge of a game involving Real Madrid.
Per Realmadrid.com
Ovidiu Haţegan will referee the match between Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid, corresponding to matchday 5 of the Champions League group stage, which will be played at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev (Tuesday, 6:55 pm, CET ).
The Romanian will referee a game involving the Whites for the second time in this competition. The first time was in the 2018/19 season, on matchday 2 of the Champions League group stage when the madridistas played at the Luzhniki stadium against CSKA Moscow (1-0).
This is a monumental match for Real Madrid. Los Blancos have bounced back from their first two games in the Champions League with two straight wins against Inter but at the same time they’ve struggled in La Liga. Madrid’s lack of consistency has been obvious yet they can’t afford another loss against Shakhtar if they want to win the group.
