The first Champions League win of the season!

It is time to breathe a huge sigh of relief, as Los Blancos secured their first Champions League victory of the season. It wasn’t easy. After a good start from the Madridistas going up 2-0, Inter managed to claw their way back, making the game sit on a knife edge for a while, until Rodrygo scored a beautiful goal. The Brazilian talked to the press and explained that Zidane asked him and Vinicius to increase the pace of the game and to go up the pitch when they have the ball.

The game was discussed in the following articles: Immediate Reaction, Player Ratings and in the Managing Madrid Podcast.

How worried should we be about Hazard?

Vinicius Junior subbed in for Hazard in the second-half around the 64th minute mark. It was noticed that Hazard left the field with a slight limp. In the press conference, Zidane confirmed that the Belgian suffered a knock but that there was nothing more. It definitely seems unrelated to his previous surgery in the right ankle, as the knock was in the left leg.

100 goals for Sergio Ramos.

El Capitan netted his 100th goal for Los Blancos with a trademark header that we’ve all become accustomed to. More than half of his goals for Los Blancos have been headers and more than a few of them have been huge goals. Ramos stated after the game that he wasn’t done yet and hopes to score many more. Meanwhile Casemiro also completed 250 games for Real Madrid.

Other results from around Europe.

Borussia Monchengladbach demolished Shakhtar 6-0 to go atop Group B with 5 points. Elsewhere Bayern and Liverpool thrashed Salzburg (6-2) and Atalanta (5-0) respectively. Man city likewise registered their 3rd win in as many games beating Olympiacos comfortably in the end 3-0. Champions league action continues tonight with groups E to H in action.
