Takefusa Kubo enjoys Thursday night football. The Real Madrid loanee, more often than not, is included in the starting XI for Villarreal in their midweek fixtures. Having already amassed a goal and two assists in the competition, Kubo added to his production numbers with another assist. In total, the teenager has 1 goal and 3 assists in 3 Europa League matches.

The play above showcased Take Kubo’s incredible vision. Despite taking on two opposition defenders, he is able to lift his head and identify the open space — the space that should best be utilized to create a goal scoring opportunity.
There were early concerns under Unai Emery, but Kubo is developing under the Spaniard’s tutelage. He has played in every Villarreal game this season, some more than others, and has featured in a variety of positions — left wing, right wing, central attacking midfield, and as a second striker. Emery is still honing the youngster’s defensive tactical nous, but with each passing game it’s clear to see he is understanding the system that Emery is implementing.
Takefusa Kubo’s next chance to impress and build off of his latest performance will be against Getafe. The yellow submarine have an early kick off away to the Madrid based club.
