Zidane manages second most matches for Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane has now managed the second most matches as Real Madrid skipper after overseeing his 153rd La Liga match.

He is now second all-time to Miguel Muñoz, who holds the record for most La Liga matches managed with an unprecedented 424 league matches managed. Zidane is also level with Vicente del Bosque after the Valencia match.

Zidane has won two La Liga titles while managing Real Madrid in the league. He is hoping for more this season even after an embarrassing loss at the Mestalla.

Asensio makes 100 league appearances for the club

Marco Asensio also set a personal La Liga milestone by making his 100th league appearance with the club against Valencia on Sunday.

Asensio has also won two La Liga titles both under Zidane. He has scored 13 goals across the 100 appearances he has featured in. He has also achieved this in his fifth season as a Madrid player.

While it was a disappointing result against Valencia to really say the least, there at least is some personal history that can be taken away from Sunday’s bout for both manager and player.

These two will continue to contribute to Real Madrid’s championship campaign this season as they look to win back-to-back. There’s still a long way to go in La Liga this season and Real have shown that this is far from over after the way they lost at the Mestalla.
