Defeat against Valencia

It was a game where basically nothing went right and basically everything went wrong. Valencia capitalized on three (yes, three) penalties (one that was retaken) and a Varane own goal. Next up is the international break, when a large chunk of Madridistas joins up with their national squads. The next time Los Blancos are in action is in two weeks against Villarreal away.

Femenino win against Eibar

While the men’s team had a plethora of penalties going against them, the women’s team got to enjoy a couple of penalties themselves against Eibar. Las Blancas won the game 3-1 After Asllani scored two penalties and Marta Cardona added the third goal. That is now the third win in a row for the team, that moved up to fifth place in the league after five played games. They play against Tenerife on Wednesday.

Benzema has a knock

The Frenchman had to be subbed off, after seemingly in pain. The good news is that it seems the injury is not that bad, according to director Butragueno, and that the Frenchman will be available against Villarreal after the international break.

You get minutes, you get minutes, everybody gets minutes

After Mariano played his first minutes this season, it means that every first team outfield-player have now featured this season. In addition, Sergio Arribas and Mervin park have made their debut, meaning 25 outfield players have featured so far this season.

Stats of the day:

Real Madrid is the first LaLiga team in almost five years to concede three penalties in a single game.

Varane has scored two own goals in his last five games. That is as many as he had in his previous 324 matches combined.
