Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde has rejoined the squad in training this Thursday, just two days ahead of the Madrid Derby against Atletico de Madrid. Valverde missed the last month of activity with the injury he picked up during the 4-1 loss to Valencia.
Valverde’s return would be a huge addition to the current squad even if Real Madrid’s midfield of Casemiro, Kroos and Luka Modric completed their best performance of the season last night, when Los Blancos beat Gladbach in a decisive Champions League game. His physicality could be a tremendous asset against a team like Atletico de Madrid, who are very physical themselves.
That said, it’s unlikely that Valverde features in the lineup when he’s missed the last month with a small leg fracture. He could always come off the bench if coach Zidane wants to give the team an energy boost, something which will likely be needed considering Modric’s age and the fact that Madrid played a very intense game on Wednesday.
