Real Madrid Femenino have announced their squad list for Sunday’s match against Espanyol:
GK: Misa, Yohana, Sara Ezquerro.
DEF: Kenti Robles, Samara Ortiz, Ivana Andrés, Marta Corredera, Claudia Florentino
MID: Maite Oroz, Thaisa, Aurélie Kaci, Teresa Abelleira, Malena Ortiz
FWD: Olga Carmona, Kosovare Asllani, Sofia Jakobsson, Lorena Navarroa, Chioma Ubogagu, Ariana Arias
Marta Cardona seemed to pick up a knock last game and was substituted off early in the 2nd half because of it, which is presumably why she has been left out of the squad. It doesn’t seem serious, though we have to trust that precautions wouldn’t be taken unless absolutely necessary.
Babett Peter and Daiane also miss out due to injuries, with the latter suffering from a long-term problem that has seen her miss every game in the 2020/21 season. Jessica Martínez is the last player left out and, given Madrid’s lack of explanation for any of their squad decisions for the Femenino side, your guess is as good as mine for why she won’t have a shot at playing.
The game will be played at 12:00 pm CET (6:00 am EST) and it doesn’t look like it will be broadcasted.
