Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal talked to the press after the 2-0 win against Atletico de Madrid in Saturday’s Derby, a pivotal victory for Madrid’s chances of competing for the 2020-2021 La Liga title.
“We got another win in what’s been a very tough week. We beat Sevilla on the road, won that ‘Final’ we had against Gladbach and now Atletico, who were in great form. Nine points out of nine but this doesn’t stop here. Now we have another game against Athletic on Tuesday and we can only score points there,” said Carvajal, who scored Madrid’s second goal from distance.
The Spanish defender was asked about Madrid’s lack of consistency so far this season.
“It’s true that this one has been an odd season so far, without a pre-season and with many injuries. We could never be all available at the same time and I think that as games go by, people reach good form and we are all reaching our best level,” he explained.
Carvajal wrapped up his quotes by saying that Real Madrid were the better team last night.
“I think that ever since [referee] Mateu whistled for the game to kick off we could see a Real Madrid team going after the game and I believe that was the key for the win. The team was pressing high, we moved the ball very well on their part of the pitch. They also had chances to score but couldn’t convert them and we take the win,” he concluded.
