Real Madrid attacker Karim Benzema scored two goals for Los Blancos on their 3-1 win against Athletic Bilbao last night. Madrid have won their last four games and seem to have gained momentum, but Benzema believes it’s time to keep working hard.

“This is because of our work. We have to be patient because we’re very strong when we stay patient. We have to wait for our moment and then score. We’re all in good form physically and mentally,” said Benzema.

The French attacker discussed Madrid’s struggles during the game, even if Athletic Bilbao were down to 10 men.

“They play well and sit back to defend, so this win happened because of our patience to see and pick the spaces and then score. We’ve got that mentality and are capable of doing big things. There’s no such thing as an easy game. Every day is tough here because we’re the greatest club in the world. We have to work hard and win big games like tonight’s,” he added.

Benzema concluded the interview by talking about his second goal, a beautiful counterattack where Madrid moved the ball efficiently.

“The goal came after a move that I really like. I enjoy getting on the ball and making myself available right across the pitch. It was a good one-touch move that ended in a goal,” concluded Benzema.
