Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Junior missed Saturday’s training session with gastroenteritis and will almost certainly miss Sunday’s away match against Eibar, coach Zinedine Zidane revealed during his pre-match press conference.
Vinicius was likely going to start the match, given that Eden Hazard just rejoined the squad in training this Friday. Now, coach Zidane could be forced to find another option for his left wing, with Rodrygo, Asensio or even Hazard as the candidates to replace Vinicius in the starting lineup.
The Brazilian winger should be ready to face Granada next Wednesday though, so this is not a significant illness.
Vinicius is now Real Madrid’s only player who isn’t available, given that Los Blancos don’t have any injuries after Jovic, Hazard and Mariano recovered from their own and trained with the squad on Friday. Zidane finally has depth at his disposal, so expect him to start managing his roster in order to keep his starters fresh.
