A determined Real Madrid came out to win on Sunday as they beat Eibar 3-1 away from home.

The performance started off very strong, but over time the hosts battled their way back into the match and Zidane’s men could have easily dropped points.

See player ratings below.

Thibaut Courtois — 8: Not much to do in the first half but once again came up big in the second and saved the team from drawing the match. Might not be too enthused with the performance from his defence tonight as the game wore on. No chance in stopping Kike;s worldie.

Dani Carvajal — 7.75: Another great night from the right-back and proves just how well he can play his position. Linked up well with Vazquez and caused problems all night. Finished with one dribble, two aerial duels won and three tackles.

Raphael Varane —6.75: An okay night for the Frenchman. Did well to cover ground after Ramos’ error but individually was a bit slow and struggled with some passing. Finished with three aerial duels.

Sergio Ramos — 7.25: Could have been the villain for his own club tonight after some poor decision making and a handball in the box but managed to come away unscathed. Had one shot and won three aerial duels.

Ferland Mendy — 7.75: Very influential down the left for the club and like Carvajal, caused lots of problems. Plus, can we talk about the speed on this guy? Intercepted a crucial play to keep Eibar from adding a second goal. Finished with one dribble, one aerial won and one tackle.

Luka Modric — 8.5: Talk about 35-years-young! Had a pep in his step all match and commanded the midfield from start to finish. Scored a stellar strike just 13 minutes into the game. Finished with four dribbles, one aerial won, one key pass and one tackle. Subbed after 72 mins and had ice on his thigh which is something to watch.

Casemiro — 7.5: A bit of an uncharacteristic performance from the Brazilian who struggled to get into the game a bit. In the second half, he recovered well, though. Finished with one dribble, two aerials won and one tackle.

Toni Kroos — 8: An easy night for the midfield maestro who dominated the midfield alongside Modric. Nothing too spectacular but did his job to perfection. Finished with one dribble, one key pass and one tackle.

Lucas Vazquez — 8: Once again the gear that helped Madrid move forward. Very on top of his game tonight and was influential throughout the entire 90 mins. His persistence earned himself a goal as well. Finished with two shots, one dribble, two aerials won and one tackle.

Karim Benzema — 9: What a week for Benzema who continues to show he’s one of the best in the business. Instinctive right from the start and used great close control skills to score six minutes in (he could, and really should, have scored more). Also assisted both Modric and Vazquez. Finished with three shots, three dribbles, three key passes and one aerial won.

Rodrygo — 8: Another strong performance from the young Brazilian as he earned a spot in the starting lineup. Immediately influenced the game with an inch-perfect pass to tee up Benzema. Had other key passes throughout the match as well and was always alert. Finished with three shots (should have certainly put one away) and three dribbles. Subbed after 72 mins.

Substitues:

Fede Valverde — 7: Came on for Modric after 72 mins, nice to see him working his way back to top form. Wasn’t too influential on the scoreline but was eager to get in on the action.

Marco Asensio — 7: On for Rodrygo. Still waiting for the Spaniard to find his form again. Had an opportunity to score but his freekick went just wide. Couldn’t get too involved after that. Needs to find his confidence again... and soon.
