AC Milan will try their best to sign Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic this winter, according to a report published today on Diario AS. They will offer a six-month loan deal with an option for them to buy the player permanently next summer, something Madrid would not be so keen on, per that same report.
While Jovic started the season playing relevant minutes for Madrid, he basically disappeared after the first few games. Two injuries and Covid-19 have not helped his case as he wan’t available for selection when Benzema was injured, but he’s now ready to play once again and it will be interesting to see if Zidane decides to give him minutes.
If Jovic keeps being a reserve for what would be his second straight season, he will not find the confidence and minutes he needs to keep developing as a player, so it would make sense for Madrid to send him out on loan and see if he can actually perform at a high level and then return to the Spanish capital when Benzema is older. Milan could be a good option for him to do so.
