Sporting Club Huelva did what most good teams do against Real Madrid Femenino. They put Las Blancas under a lot of high pressure. Throughout the first half, Real Madrid struggled to get out of their own end. Misa’s goal was put under constant pressure.
As the clock ticked toward the end of the first half, Real Madrid found a little more success. They won a corner through a saved Sofia Jakobsson shot in the 40th minute. One minute later Jakobsson shot again. This time the shot hit off Sporting’s Kristina Fisher and floated just above Chelsea’s out-stretched glove and into the back of the net, giving Las Blancas a 1-0 lead heading into the half.
Aznar replaced Claudia Florentino with Babett Peter to start the second half. Sporting had an early chance off a free-kick conceded by Ivana Andres. But the shot did not trouble Misa.
Sporting Club Huelva produced more of the same in the second half. They pressed Real Madrid high up the pitch and Las Blancas struggled. Aznar brought on Thaisa for Arias in an attempt to solidify the midfield.
Sporting had a few half chances but as the game progressed there were less and less chances for both sides. Sporting ramped up the pressure in the dying moments of the match but Real Madrid saw the game out.
