Granada FC manager Diego Martinez spoke to the press after his team lost to Real Madrid 2 - 0 at Estadio Alfredo di Stefano on Wednesday night.
Our own Kiyan Sobhani asked Martinez about Real Madrid loanee Jesus Vallejo, and what Martinez’s assessment of the defender against his parent club was, particularly after Casemiro towered over him for the game’s opening goal.
“We never discuss individual performances, and I think the team in general, and also Vallejo in particular, I give them all a good grade tonight,” Martinez said. “We are a modest team and it’s a big challenge for us to come to Valdebebas to face this great team like Real Madrid, and I believe that overall the performance was very good, even if we would have obviously liked to take at least a point”
Martinez also spoke about this team’s performance, that he was happy with the display his men put out.
“When you don’t win you can’t be satisfied because winning or adding is our mentality, but the team’s performance has been good,” Martinez continues. “We had the best chances to get ahead.”
“We have had actions from the area that with a little precision we could have made the tie.”
