Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has rejoined the squad in today’s training session, the first after the Christmas break. Modric missed Real’s last game against Granada and should be available when Los Blancos visit Elche next Wednesday, given that he completed the session.

Modric has been a crucial player for Madrid this season and will likely feature in the starting lineup in that away game against Elche.

Even though he’s already 35 years old, he’s found a way to contribute at a high level on a consistent basis, so he will almost surely keep his spot in the XI now that he’s ready to play.

The Croatian player has reportedly reached an agreement to extend his contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2022. His current deal expires next summer and while the club has not announced this extension yet, both MARCA and AS reported last night that the deal is all but signed.
