Jesus Muñoz, Elche’s assistant manager who stepped in for head coach Jorge Almiron (out with COVID-19), spoke to the press after his side drew 1 - 1 with Real Madrid at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.
Our own Kiyan Sobhani asked Muñoz what he and his team spoke about at half-time, which led to Elche improving in the second half defensive and in dealing with Real Madrid’s press.
“In the first half we we felt we didn’t defend so well,” Muñoz said. “Then, we adjusted things and we were clear that we were in the game. We talked about that at halftime and came out convinced in the second half.”
Muñoz was also in full praise of his team’s defense in general:
“I liked everything in general. We have competed very well and we are looking for balance. On a defensive level we were spectacular. We were very supportive and that has given us the fruit of winning a point. In fact, we had the feeling of having been able to achieve something more ”.
