Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. talked to the press after the team’s 0-1 win against Sevilla this Saturday. Vinicius was crucial in the victory, allowing Madrid to score the game-winning goal although it was finally considered an own-goal.

“Today’s win is hugely important for our confidence going into Wednesday’s game. We’ve taken the win from a tough ground against a good side. The goal was mine, of course. I shot on target and it went in. The goal was crucial for us in a game where we put in a great performance,” said the young attacker.

Vinicius also explained what the mindset from the team was heading into this game, especially considering Madrid’s recent struggles.

“We had no doubts at all today. We knew we’d have to dig in to win it. This season is proving pretty unique so far. There are loads of games, one every two days. We’re all struggling a bit to get going but we played well. We have to keep improving and picking up the points we need,” he explained.

Real Madrid will face Borussia Monchedgladbach in a decisive Champions League game next Wednesday. Vinicius might have cemented his place in the starting lineup for that game and believes that the team needs to keep working in order to advance to the Round of 16.

“We’re always calm and confident. Playing for Real Madrid comes with pressure but we like that pressure. We have to keep doing what we’ve done today. We won’t stop. We’re getting ready for the match on Wednesday, we’ve been focused on putting in a big performance. We can’t get carried away and have to play like we did today, go out and give everything on the pitch and win it,” he concluded.
