UEFA announced today that Italian referee Daniele Orsato has been appointed as the referee for Wednesday’s clash between Real Madrid and Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League’s Round of 16. This will be the third time he’s been in charge of a game involving Real Madrid.

Per Realmadrid.com
The first was the victory against Malmö at the Santiago Bernabéu, in the Group Stage of the 2015/16 season. And the second one was in the win over Galatasaray at Ali Sami Yen, corresponding to the third day of the Group Stage in this season’s Champions League.

This meeting between Madrid and City will be expected to be a high-intensity game where the referee will likely play an important role in keeping things under control. Neither team is particularly rough but such important matches are always full of moments where the referee has to make important decisions, and that’s what Orsato will have to do on Wednesday.
