Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane talked to the media in Valdebebas for the pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s meeting between Los Blancos and Manchester City in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
Zidane praised City’s Pep Guardiola and said that the former Barcelona coach is the world’s best manager.
“I said he’s the best because he’s proved it time and time again, now with Manchester City, it’s just my opinion. Then someone else may think about another coach, there are many coaches in the world of football but for me he’s the best,” said Zidane.
The French coach believes that the support from the fans will be crucial during the first leg.
“We want the fans to be with us and we will give our best. We know how important this game is and it will be beautiful also, so we will give our best because they will be here to see their players,” explained the coach.
Manchester City will be entirely focused on the Champions League as they have all but lost their chances to win the Premier League. Zidane was asked about this matter and said that it won’t make a difference.
“It won’t matter, they are a good team who will be here to play their style and what we have to do is to play a good game, in the end that’s what matters, we don’t need to think about anything else,” said Zidane, who also revealed how Hazard is feeling after suffering another injury.
“He obviously isn’t happy, we’re all feeling bad because he wanted to be back and in the end it didn’t happen. He got injured again and I only hope that when he returns again he does it at full strength, that’s what he wants as well. It’s a tough moment for him,” concluded Zidane.
