Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard, currently playing for Real Sociedad on a two-year loan deal, talked in press conference ahead of Thursday’s match between the two teams in the Copa del Rey Quarterfinals. Odegaard insisted on the idea of staying with the Basque team past next summer, even if Madrid have interest in bringing him back.

“That’s the plan, nothing has changed, nothing at all. I’m very happy here and I’m focused on the present,” said Odegaard, who added that Real Sociedad can beat Real Madrid next Thursday.

“I think we completed a very good performance in La Liga, especially during the first 40 minutes before they got the lead, we have to play like that for 90 minutes and if we do that I think we can win,” explained the young talent.

Odegaard also explained his relationship with current Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, who coached him in Castilla.

“We have a good relationship, I learned a lot from him. He’s a great coach and knows a lot about football. I’m happy for him because he’s doing very well,” said Odegaard.

Real Sociedad will try their best in the Copa del Rey, revealed the midfielder.

“This is the Quarterfinals, a very special game. We’re all very excited and we want to advance to the next round. It’d be a dream to achieve something big in the Copa del Rey,” concluded Odegaard.
