Real Madrid have published a medical report about Thibaut Courtois, who picked up a groin injury during last Sunday’s away match against Betis.
Following tests carried out today on Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to his left adductor muscle. His recovery will be monitored.

Courtois will surely miss Friday’s home game against Eibar and is also out of the return leg against Manchester City in the Champions League’s Round of 16, which will be played next week.
Reserve goalkeeper Alphonse Areola will be Courtois’ replacement in the starting lineup and his performances could be crucial for Madrid’s chances of competing for La Liga title this season.
Areola was solid during the first half of the season but his last game against Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey Quarterfinals wasn’t all that good, so he will likely need to improve his confidence and gain some momentum for Madrid’s next games.
