The Spanish Footballer’s Association and the Spanish Football Federation will meet tomorrow, Thursday March 12th, at 12:00 CEST to decide the future of La Liga. Earlier today, all matches, aside from the second division and the first division, were suspended due to the potential spread of the Corona virus. After that announcement Dani Cavarjal took to social media with the following statement: “Are the players, coaching staff, and assistants of the first and second division squads immune?”. Clearly the players are taking the virus seriously and in all likelihood, La Liga and the Segunda Division, will be suspended.

If the league is ultimately suspended - the RFEF will need to provide clarity on the length of suspension. Will Euro 2020 be impacted? If the league is called off entirely - who would be crowned champions? Who would enter the European spots? And who, arguably the most important in terms of financial impact, would be relegated? Many questions still remain, but the most important is the safety and health of the individuals potentially at risk.
