Update: La Liga have postponed the next two weeks of the 2019-2020 season.

Real Madrid didn’t train this Thursday after one of their basketball players tested positive for Coronavirus. The basketball and football teams use the same facilities in Valdebebas and the club decided to place all their players in quarantine when they were ready to begin today’s training session.

Real Madrid C. F. announces that a member of our basketball first team has tested positive for coronavirus.

The recommendation of remaining in quarantine has been followed with immediate effect, with this measure applied to both the basketball and football first teams, given that the two squads share the facilities at Real Madrid City.

In addition, a decision has been made to close our training ground and it is recommended that all Real Madrid staff who work at Real Madrid City remain in quarantine.

The EuroLeague basketball match and the LaLiga football fixture scheduled for today and tomorrow will not be played.

La Liga and UEFA are expected to make a decision about the future of the Champions League and the Spanish competition today and it seems quite clear that the two competitions will be postponed until further notice.

Right now, Los Blancos are set to face Eibar behind closed doors this Friday, but that was before the massive outbreak happened in Spain early this week. It’s only a matter of time before UEFA and La Liga decide to cancel their competitions, as other major events such as the NBA, the Euroleague or MotoGP have already done so.
