Oscar Rodriguez has become Leganes most important player this season after the departures of Martin Braithwaite and Yousuf El-Nesyri. He is the club’s top goal scorer with 7 goals including recent game-winners vs Eibar and Real Sociedad. If Leganes do ultimately stay up, it will be in large part due to the talent and work of Real Madrid’s loanee, Oscar Rodriguez.

The former Canterano’s performances have not gone unnoticed. According to a report from AS, Real Betis would be interested in acquiring the midfielder’s services for the next season. Betis want to secure a permanent move or a loan with an option to buy. If Madrid agree to the move, they would likely include a buy-back clause — a tactic often used by the club to secure the first option on their former academy talents.

Oscar is certainly ready for a bigger challenge next season. If he is not a part of Zinedine Zidane’s plans, then a move to Real Betis could be best for all parties. A rumored fee of around €12-€15 million would likely be enough to see Madrid sell. Given Oscar’s level, it’s probable that other teams will be in the mix. There may be a battle for his signature this summer.
