Reports from Serbian outlet Blic, later also reported by Spanish outlet AS, suggest that Luka Jovic violated the quarantine protocols imposed by Real Madrid and Serbia.

The player did have permission from the club to return to Serbia according to Cadena Cope. But, instead of self isolating at home, Luka Jovic apparently partied in Belgrade to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday. He is now under investigation with the Serbian police.

The Serbian prime minister commented on the subject earlier today. “We have negative examples of our footballers, who are paid very well, ignoring mandatory self-isolation upon returning home”.

Jovic acted recklessly and selfishly. For a player attempting to break back into the match-day squads, this mistake will not help his cause. More news is expected to filter out and more clarity may be provided in the coming days.
