Given that actual football is suspended for the foreseeable future, La Liga has teamed up with Spanish esports announcer Ibai Llanos to create a small FIFA 20 competition. Llanos recommended a FIFA 20 tournament between all La Liga teams, with one designated player from each club. Ibai’s idea actually originated from the success of Real Madrid loanee’s Sergio Reguilon’s match vs Betis counterpart Borja Iglesisas that was streamed live on Twitch.

The first round of elimination games is expected to be played this Friday at 19:00 CEST. Marco Asensio will be representing Real Madrid after taking on, and defeating, fellow heavyweights, Dani Carvjal and Thibaut Courtois in playoff-type matches to determine who would get to represent the club. Some of the other players involved are Carlos Soler of Valencia, Reguilon for Sevilla, Sergi Roberto of Barcelona, and Adnan Januzaj for Real Sociedad. The breakout for the draw is below:

The selected players will have a chance to reignite their competitive juices. Best of luck to Marco Asensio - make Madridista’s proud!
