Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Haaland would like Real Madrid to be his next club but the German side want to keep the promising wonder kid for another season, according to a report from Spanish newspaper ABC. Haaland asked Dortmund’s board that if they were to receive offers from him different than the €75 million release clause, they should tell Real Madrid so that Los Blancos could match and eventually improve those offers, per that same report.
Haaland’s €75 million release clause makes him a very appealing target for most European clubs. Still, the current coronavirus outbreak and the postponement of all major competitions could have an effect on the transfer market and Haaland’s prize could be even lower than that. Furthermore, the transfer window could be delayed until the end of this season, so the next market seems to be far from certain.
A report from the Evening Standard reported this week that Real Madrid were interested in activating Haaland’s release clause this summer. It’s not clear if he would become an undisputed starter for Madrid right away if Benzema keeps performing well, but Haaland is still 19 years old and seems destined to become one of the best strikers in European football.
All in all, Haaland seems to be a player Real Madrid can’t let join another club.
