Real Madrid and James Rodriguez seem destined to part ways next summer. The same could be said a year ago but the Colombian player ended up staying with Los Blancos, where he has not been a relevant player this season. James started the 2019-2020 campaign playing relevant minutes but he’s been out of the squad list more often than not.
Apparently, the Colombian midfielder would like to join Atletico de Madrid next summer in order to stay in the Spanish capital, according to a report from Gol TV. Atleti would be keen on such a move and Real will likely allow him to leave on a relatively cheap deal, considering that his contract with Los Blancos expires in 2021.
James himself probably expected to play a more relevant part in Madrid this season, but his minutes early this year were not very encouraging and he’s the last midfielder in the current rotation. Not even the injuries in Real’s right wing gave him a chance to be relevant and it would be wise for both parts to go separate ways.
