Achraf Hakimi was once again on the score sheet this weekend. The Madrid loanee has thrived for Dortmund this season in a more advanced wing-back role. The 21-year-old has amassed over 2,500 minutes and has contributed with end product — 9 goals and 10 assists. His lethal speed and composed decision making in the final third have seen him become one of the Bundesliga’s, and Europe’s, most talented young players. In an exclusive interview with Telefoot, Achraf discussed his potential return to Real Madrid and his relationship with Zidane.
“Madrid has been my home, I really enjoyed it there. If Real Madrid wants me to come back, I will come back. If it’s not meant to be, I will then have to make my story in another great club,” Achraf explained when asked about the chance of returning and triumphing at Real Madrid.
When asked about Zidane, Achraf was full of praise. “Zidane has been the man who has given me the opportunity and confidence to play professional football. I am grateful to him for the trust and treatment he has always had with me. I will always be grateful,” he added.
The Moroccan's two-year loan spell with Borussia Dortmund ends this summer. Given his strong performances both int he Bundesliga and in the Champions League, it is expected that Achraf Hakimi will return and challenge Carvajal for the starting right-back position.
