Alphonse Areola’s loan deal in Real Madrid will expire next summer and his agent is already tryin to find a club for him in the Premier League, according to a report from French newspaper L’Equipe.
Areola could always return to Paris Saint-Germain but he knows that the French club just don’t have room for him. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will almost surely bring Andriy Lunin back to the capital to be Courtois’ backup.
Areola has been solid when given minutes this season but his last performance against Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey Quarterfinals ultimately could have hurt his chances of staying in Real Madrid and solidify his spot as a reliable backup for Courtois.
Some reports indicated that Los Blancos were happy with Areola’s performances this season and that they were going to make his deal permanent, but that doesn’t make much sense considering that Lunin is a player who could make Madrid’s first team next season, even if it’s just as a backup.
