Borussia Dortmund want to keep Real Madrid right-back Achraf Hakimi around for next season and will offer to extend his loan deal or even make it a regular, permanent transfer, according to a report from Spanish newspaper AS. Real Madrid’s answer to Borussia’s inquire could be significant if Los Blancos plan on signing Dortmund’s Haaland in the future, per that same report.
While it would make a lot of sense for Madrid to bring back Achraf, Los Blancos could consider extending his loan deal for one additional season if that makes it easier for them to sign Haaland in the summer transfer window.
If that happens, Carvajal and Odriozola would once again compete for the starting spot while Achraf would enjoy yet another season of being an undisputed starter in Dortmund, something which could improve his defensive skill set and make him an even better candidate to compete with Carvajal in the 2021-2022 season.
However, it’s likely that Madrid just decide to bring back Achraf as soon as possible and still try to sign Haaland. The relationship between Real Madrid and Dortmund is an excellent one and Madrid’s decision to recover Achraf should not affect their decision about Haaland.
