Belgium coach Roberto Martinez talked to HLN and gave an update on Eden Hazard’s recovery. The Belgian star suffered another foot injury right after recovering from the one he picked up against PSG late in 2019 and needed to have surgery. Luckily enough for him, the current Coronavirus pandemic offered him a chance to recover and potentially be back when football is back.
“I know he’s recovering well, he’s not far from walking again and he’s not having any kind of complications. Everything went well during surgery and the only fear he had was that some kind of complication appeared, and it didn’t,” revealed Roberto Martinez, who is very close to Real’s star.
Martinez also talked about how the current pandemic helps Hazard.
“For sure, La Liga stopped for a moment so Hazard hasn’t missed many games just yet, that’s only positive for him and we know he will be back stronger than ever. We also got lucky a little bit because he could have his surgery before the outbreak, he wouldn’t be able to receive treatment away from Madrid. Eden usually recovers soon, he’s focused in his recovery and truly believe feeling he’ll be back soon,” explained the Spanish coach.
Hazard was expected to miss two months recovering from his injury and he had surgery on March 5th, so he will need around one more month to properly rehab from his foot fracture.
