“Florentino was still dreaming about signing Neymar last May,” says his former agent

The Neymar-to-Real Madrid saga has been quiet for quite a while and it seems that Los Blancos are just not interested in the Brazilian star anymore, although that’s not what his former agent Wagner Ribeiro has told ESPN.

“I went to Madrid many times back in the day because Florentino wanted to sign Neymar. I met Florentino Perez last May in my office and he told me that he still dreams about signing him,” said Ribeiro.

Neymas was rumored to be on his way out of PSG last summer but ended up staying in the French capital as Barcelona decided not to spend that much money on him. Ribeiro explained what happened.

“Neymar stayed because he just didn’t have a prize. PSG could ask for €500 million because he had a long contract, but he will have a set prize next summer, one determined by FIFA, a percentage of the €222 million they spent on him. Now Neymar will be available for €164 million,” added his former agent.

Neymar is 28 years old and Real Madrid have clearly moved on from him, even if Florentino told Ribeiro that he still wanted to sign the Brazilian star. On the other hand, it seems that he wants to make his return to Barcelona to play with Messi again, so that transfer shouldn’t be ruled out.
