Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro talked online to some young football fans in an event for Save the Children and addressed the current coronavirus outbreak which has forced every major sport to stop their competitions.
“These are tough times, but we have to do our job, which is to stay home and help as much as we can, follow the instructions from the authorities,” said Casemiro, who was also asked about Real Madrid’s chances in the Champions League and La Liga.
“Of course we want to win La Liga and the Champions League but we’re not thinking about that right now, we’re only thinking about winning the battle against Coronavirus,” said Casemiro.
The Brazilian midfielder revealed that his idol growing up was Zinedine Zidane, who is now his coach.
“I always had an idol who was called Zidane. He’s now my coach and I loved how he played, it was such a pleasure to watch him play and how he moved on the pitch. He was my main inspiration,” reveals Casemiro.
He also had some beautiful words to say about his teammates and the relationship he has with them all.
“The players are like my second family, I’ve got no special love for some of them, they’re all my friends and our main goal is always to win. There’s nothing more beautiful than winning when you’re with your family,” concluded Casemiro.
The Brazilian midfielder was completing one of his best seasons for Real Madrid so far and the coaching staff will surely be hoping that he keeps performing at that level when Los Blancos step on the pitch again.
