Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin talked to the website Madridista Real in a sponsored interview for Lexcyl Abogados and shared his expectations about the upcoming seasons. Lunin is now spending the campaign for Oviedo after being a reserve for Valladolid during the first half of the campaign.

“I really don’t know what will happen in the future, of course I’d like to return to Madrid and fight for the starting spot, that’s what I want to do, but we’ll see what the coach thinks about it and what happens with the quarantine as well, I’m hoping everything goes well,” says the young goalkeeper.

Although his first two seasons in Spain have been disappointing with a lack of minutes for him, Lunin still believes in his potential, as he should.

“Of course I think I’m good enough to be Real Madrid’s goalkeeper in the future. It wouldn’t make any sense to sign for Madrid otherwise. I think about it and I do my best to reach that goal. When will that happen? I don’t know, but I’m sure it will be one of the happiest moments of my life, if not the happiest,” added Lunin.

The young goalkeeper praised Real Madrid’s starting keeper Thibaut Courtois.

“Thibaut has a great level, it’s clear. He wouldn’t play for Real Madrid otherwise. I like many things about him, one is that he is very tall, a bit taller than me and I like how he uses his size when the ball goes low,” he explained.

Real Madrid might decide to keep Lunin as Courtois’ backup next season, although some reports also suggest that Los Blancos could try to sign Areola away from Paris Saint-Germain, given that Zidane is happy with what he’s seen from the French goalkeeper.
