Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois talked to Real Madrid TV about the team’s return to training, which happened this Monday. Los Blancos are getting ready to the return of La Liga, scheduled for mid-June.
“Being back in training on my birthday is the best present for me. I was obviously looking forward to coming back, it was fun and I was excited about it. I hope that everything is solved soon so that we can train together and La Liga is definitely back,” said Courtois.
The Belgian goalkeeper is optimistic about Madrid’s chances.
“I feel well, the team and myself were performing well before everything happened and we are excited about competing for the titles. I saw everyone and they’re ready to be back, so when we play the first game we’ll be at 100%. Asensio and Hazard will be back and we’ll need everyone to win,” he added.
Courtois explained his training routine during the quarantine.
“It’s different when you train at home, you just have to do what you can. I was lucky because I bought some stuff before the lockdown. I did some exercises and when I was feeling better I did some specific routines with a friend who lives with me, so that I could be at 100%,” concluded Courtois.
The goalkeeper was having a phenomenal season for Real Madrid and Los Blancos will need him to keep it up if they want to have a good chance of winning La Liga and the Champions League.
"Nothing irks me more than when people call him a 'sideway pass merchant'. No one plays progressive passes and vertical passes the way Kroos does." -- @KiyanSo discusses @ToniKroos's legacy.
