Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos talked in an interview with a German news agency and shared his thoughts about the return of the Bundesliga, which will happen this weekend.
“The general feeling here is that if the Germans can’t play their league and complete the season, nobody can. Germany had the best numbers in terms of people infected and casualties due to Coronavirus, if they can’t finish the season, who can? We will all pay attention to see how the Bundesliga does,” said Kroos.
The midfielder also explained Real Madrid’s protocole for training. Los Blancos made their return to Valdebebas this past Monday and everything seems ready and set for La Liga to restart the 2019-2020 season in June.
“We trained at home for quite a while with an individual plan for every player. It was like a long period of holidays, like in the summer when you know that eventually you’ll play again. We’re now starting a small training camp which should last around four or five weeks,” said Kroos.
Bundesliga’s return paves the way for the rest of the European leagues to at least consider completing the season, although it’s true that the situation changes in every country. La Liga seem determined about restarting the competition, but they will surely pay close attention to the developments in Germany before making a final decision about the schedule.
