David Beckham joined Emilio Butragueno on a online video conference call to respond to some questions asked by the students of the Real Madrid Graduate School. One the first questions had Becks reflect back at his time at the club: “The four years I spent at Real Madrid were among the most beautiful and important spells of my career. The relationship with the fans, getting the chance to walk out into the Bernabéu and play in one of the greatest stadiums in the world of football. I have very fond memories of that time”.
Beckham went on to elaborate on some of his fondest memories, including the 2006-2007 La Liga title triumph. “A really special moment was when we won LaLiga,” he told the group. “It was an incredible achievement because it was a crucial season for the club and for me. It didn’t look like we were going to win, but we managed it.”
There was also time for Beckham to reflect on a moment with current Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane. “Another memory I have was Zidane’s last training session. He sat down next to me and said, ‘thank you for everything you’ve done, for being a wonderful teammate’, it was a beautiful moment.”
The call ended with Beckham telling students what his greatest achievement has been in life: “I’ve played in and won big leagues but the thing I am most proud of is my family. My wife and I have built something truly important and that is my greatest achievement”.
