Figo: “I played with a lot of great players, but I would always back Raul to score”

Luis Figo took to Instagram Live to answer questions on his football career. During his time at Real Madrid, Figo formed a strong bond with Raul and their chemistry on the pitch was crucial to the club’s s success in the early 2000s. When asked about his the former #7, Figo was full of praise:

“Raul is a winner. It’s because of his mentality that he won so much in his career. He always knew what to do and how to move on the pitch. Ronaldo has speed and power but it’s hard to choose Raul’s best attribute, he had a bit of everything, he always made a difference.”

Figo’s career saw him play for clubs like Sporting Lisbon, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan but despite the plethora of talented teammates, few impressed him like Raul. “I played with a lot of great players,” Figo noted. “There was Ronaldo, Zidane, Rivaldo, Stoichkov, Guardiola, Hierro, Veron. But I would always back Raul to score.”
