Portuguese legend Luis Figo talked in yet another Instagram Live and explained the reason why he decided to leave FC Barcelona and sign for Real Madrid back in 2000.

“It was a tough and important decision because I left a city that was giving me a lot and where I was in a good position, but when you feel you are not acknowledged for what you’re doing and you receive an offer from another club, you think about it,” revealed Figo.

Here, Figo implies that he wasn’t valued at Barcelona. Florentino Perez reached an agreement with Figo and his agent which indicated that the winger would join Real Madrid if Perez won the elections for president. In the end, Perez beat Lorenzo Sanz, paid the winger’s release clause and Figo joined the club.

The winger played five seasons for Real Madrid and then signed for Inter Milan in 2005, where he finished his career four years later.

Figo is Florentino Perez’s first galactico and is considered a true club legend for Real Madrid, where he scored 58 goals and delivered 76 assists during the 245 games he played for the club.
