James Rodriguez could end up joining Atletico de Madrid in the upcoming transfer window, as Simeone’s side will offer around €25 million to sign him away from Real Madrid, according to a report from Colombian newspaper El Universal. James was on Atletico’s radar in the summer of 2019 but ended up staying in Real Madrid, where he hasn’t been a relevant player this season.

His current deal with Los Blancos expires in 2021 but it’s clear that both the player and Real Madrid will try to part ways, given that the current situation doesn’t make much sense for a player of his caliber and reputation. If Atletico are indeed willing to offer those €25 million, expect Real Madrid to accept and sell James, even if it means improving Simeone’s team.

James could leave as a free agent in 2021 and that could ultimately force Real Madrid to accept a cheaper offer for James, given that it’s obvious that he’s for sale.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton are also reportedly interested in the Colombian midfielder, so if the British side choose to compete with Atletico for James, Madrid will likely send the player to the Premier League.
