On Wednesday morning, beginning around 8:30 am, Real Madrid players began arriving at Valdebebas to start their COVID-19 tests.

The players arrived in cars — most driving themselves to the facility, but some, like Marcelo, arriving as the passenger along with other people. Some players wore masks and gloves.

The testing, which began this morning, is done in groups. Benzema was called into the facility first, followed by other players such as Hazard, Nacho, Modric, Bale, Mendy, Rodrygo, James, and several players from Castilla.

Mariano, Fede Valverde, and Thibaut Courtois arrived for their tests some two hours later.

Zidane and the entire coaching staff will also be tested. The tests will not only indicate whether they have the virus or not — but also whether they’ve had it at any point in the past.

Once the testing is finalized, training will resume if the tests come back negative. And even then, there are strict restrictions:

  1. All players must live at Valdebebas for the foreseeable future.
  2. Training can only be done with six players on a pitch at once, and even then, they must be seperated by a certain distance.

The plan (somewhat controversially), is to resume matches behind closed doors in June.
