Eduardo Camavinga gave his first exclusive and extensive interview to Ouest-France. The 17-year-old central midfielder discussed the rumors surrounding his future and a funny anecdote from a French cup clash vs Amiens.
“One time, in the cup game against Amiens, an opponent told me: ‘You have to give me your shirt before you go to Madrid’ - I didn’t really want to joke around because they knocked us out,” Camavinga admitted. “Afterwards, I thought about it and it was funny”.
The young French sensation has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid since February. There was no avoiding questions regarding the rumors. “I’m not thinking too much about the interest from Real Madrid. It’s good that big clubs like those mentioned are interested in me, but right now I’m happy at Rennes. We’ll see where my future lies at the end of the season,” he concluded.
MARCA have reported that a deal was nearly done with Real Madrid, Camavinga, and Rennes prior to COVID19. Now the club have to sell players before they could potentially invest up to €60 million on the young prospect.
