Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil talked to the press and admitted that his talented midfielder Martin Odegaard is nursing a small niggle which prevented him from completing the game against Alaves this week. Odegaard spent Friday’s training session recovering from this small injury in order to increase his chances of featuring in the starting lineup when Real Madrid visit Anoeta this Sunday.
“Just like the rest of our team, he is not at his best after the lockdown. It’s true that he had some pain and discomfort and that’s why I subbed him off. He’s a crucial player who completed a brilliant first half of the season, also part of the second half, but he has other crucial players around him who we need to find as well,” said Imanol.
Real Sociedad have only scored one point after two fairly manageable games against Osasuna and Alaves, so they seem to be losing some momentum after being one of the most highlighted teams before the quarantine.
Real Madrid could retake control of their own destiny and the top spot in La Liga table with a win in Anoeta after Barcelona dropped points against Sevilla this Friday.
