Real Madrid earned the top spot in La liga table with their 1-2 win against Real Sociedad and Thibaut Courtois is focused on what’s ahead for the team.

“When we started this mini pre-season, we knew we had 11 cup finals ahead of us. We’ve now played three of them, we’ve got eight to go and we know that each game will be tough. Our next match is against Mallorca, who are fighting to avoid the drop and it’ll be difficult, we can’t ease off. We have to be really focused this week, we’re back in action in three days’ time,” said Courtois.

It wasn’t an easy game for Los Blancos and it was full of controversy with three questionable calls by the referee. Courtois still believes that all three of them turned out to be right. He mainly talked about the disallowed goal for Real Sociedad.

“When he shot, there were three people in my line of vision, Merino, another La Real player and one of our players, who was trying to block the shot. I couldn’t see a thing and if you can’t see the ball and it happens so fast that you don’t have the time to react, that means it’s offside. It may be fair or otherwise, but I was prevented from seeing it. That’s what the VAR system is there for and I think that tonight’s decisions were clear cut,” explained the keeper.

Real Madrid will face Mallorca on Wednesday in what should be a manageable game for Los Blancos to keep the lead in the table with 8 games remaining.
