Tottenham have offered €16 million for the signing of Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez, according to a report published on British newspaper The Sun. While The Sun isn’t a very accurate publication in terms of transfer rumors, Spanish newspaper AS echoed the news and added that Madrid would like to get at least €24 million for the transfer of Vazquez.
Vazquez has been a reserve ever since he returned to play for Real Madrid after a loan spell with Espanyol. While he’s always been given minutes, it might now be time for him to try to take the next step in his career and become a starter elsewhere, even if it’s on a somewhat smaller club.
Furthermore, Real Madrid have huge depth on that position and players like Asensio or Rodrygo will only get more minutes as they keep developing during the next few seasons, so it will be tougher for Vazquez to play.
Tottenham’s potential offer should be taken with a grain of salt, but Madrid and Vazquez could decide to part ways this summer if there’s a quality club willing to give the winger a starting role.
