Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett talked to British radio station BBC Radio 4 and discussed the future of the Welsh attacker, who appeared to be set to leave Real Madrid last summer only to stay in the club. Bale has not been a relevant player for Madrid this season and it would be easy to think that the club wants to part ways with him, but that doesn’t seem to be Bale’s desire.
“He’s won mostly everything a player can win, so to make a return to the Premier League would be unbelievable, a big thing, but I don’t think he wants to leave right now. He’s happy playing for Real Madrid,” said Barnett when asked about the rumors suggesting that Bale could join Newcastle.
Bale is under contract until the summer of 2022 and is not interested in leading a new project, according to Barnett.
“It’s his life he wants to lead, not a new project. From a financial standpoint, he won’t be needing more money for the rest of his life and even the life of his children and grandchildren,” added the agent.
It won’t be easy for Real Madrid to find a new club for Bale considering that they won’t be willing to match his current salary in the Spanish capital. That’s why, unless he decides to take a pay cut in order to get more minutes elsewhere, Real Madrid should assume that Bale is going to be on their squad for the time being.
