Real Sociedad presiden Jokin Aperribay talked to the press and shared his thoughts about the future of midfielder Martin Odegaard, who is playing for the Basque club for the 2019-2020 campaign and could extend his loan deal one more season.
“I think Odegaard is going to stay, that’s what we’re hoping. If Martin Odegaard stays with Real Sociedad he has to be sure about it being the best thing for him next season. He knows what we want and Real Madrid too, but we have to respect both parts because he’s a Real Madrid player. He joined us for two seasons but you can’t complete two-year loan deals in La Liga and they have to be activated by the players instead. We’re hoping he stays and we think he’s going to stay,” explained Aperribay.
While Real Madrid appeared to be ready to let Odegaard stay in Real Sociedad next season, the Coronavirus crisis might force Los Blancos to change their minds. However, Odegaard wants to be a relevant player and he would not get that kind of role in Real Madrid next season, so Zidane will have to convince the Norwegian midfielder if he really wants to have him around for the 2020-2021 campaign.
